Nuneaton Chess Club are proposing to change their Coventry League Tuesday venue as from 1st January 2018 as the usual venue is not available for chess due to changes in use.
From 1st January 2018 (and for the rest of the 2017/8 season) they propose to play at:
ATTLEBOROUGH LIBERAL CLUB
BULL STREET
ATTLEBOROUGH
NUNEATON
CV11 4JX
024 7673 5344
There is street car parking but also a car park at the rear accessed from George Street and a passageway to the front of the building.
This venue is already used on a Monday evening so some of you may already be aware of it.
Please contact Colin Green if you have further questions about this change.

Message from the Chairman of the League
As Chairman of the Coventry and District Chess League I have to announce
that at the end of the present season Mike Johnson will be stepping down
from all his C&DCL posts.
These are:
Secretary
Grader
Results Service Manager.
Mike has served this league for 40 years in various capacities and he
feels that this is the time for him to step down. We owe him a great
deal for keeping the league running over all of those years but we must
now look to find new organisers to take the league forward.
Mike will provide help and training to anyone who might be interested in
these posts and support them as they get to grips with their new
responsibilities.
Together the three above posts contain quiet a lot of work but they
could be done by three separate persons with the posts of Grader and
Results Service Manager being able to be done from home.
It is important that the league finds candidates for these posts as we
cannot arrive at the A.G.M. without someone to take over.
For information on what exactly is involved Mike might be the best
person to contact but I would appreciate it if anyone who might be
interested in any of these posts register their interest with myself.
I shall be e-mailing all of the membership at Nuneaton and I hope that
you will be able to do the same within your own clubs so that as many
people as possible are aware that these posts must be filled if we are
to play chess next season.
Many thanks,
Colin Green.
Nuneaton.
League Chairman.

Update
It has (rightly) been pointed out that the League website has not been updated for a while - two years!
If anyone would like to provide content and regular updates please let a member of the committee know and we can arrange to add you as an Administrator.
A few updates for now:
1) A very belated welcome to Kenilworth, who have entered a team in the First Division. This has helped to really strengthen the First Divison and make it very competitive.
2) An EGM was held on the 13th September to update and revise all the League Rules. A copy will be issued to all club secretaries and it is also hoped to place a copy on this site for all players to read.
3) Oliver Cosham has resigned as Fixtures secretary. Oliver has given many years service to the League and I am sure we all would like to express our Thanks for the efficient way he organised the Fixtures every year. He will be a very tough act to follow for whoever takes over that position!

2015 British Chess Championships - to be held at Warwick University
The 2015 British Chess Championships will take place at
the University of Warwick from 25 July to 8
August.
Apart from the main championship there are many competitions to suit all tastes including ones of varying length and catering for various grading bands. (Information on who can play is shown here).
So, if you might want to play or watch then don't book your holiday in that period.
The website for more information is http://britishchesschampionships.co.uk/ (currently showing mostly information about the 2014 event - this will give you an idea of what you could be in for).
